Finnish black metal pioneers Azaghal share third new single
Finnish black metal veterans Azaghal have unveiled their latest single “Noitalasia”, taken from their upcoming thirteenth full-length album Nekrohelios. The lyric video was shared last Thursday via Immortal Frost Productions, offering fans another glimpse into the band’s next chapter ahead of the album’s official release on May 29, 2026 via CD, vinyl and digital formats.
With Nekrohelios, the Finnish pioneers deliberately reconnect with the raw spirit of their early era, echoing the atmosphere of classics such as Mustamaa, while moving away from the slightly different direction heard on Alttarimme on Luista Tehty and Valo Pohjoisesta. The record opens with a haunting keyboard introduction that channels early ’90s black metal aesthetics before erupting into blast-driven aggression, razor-sharp riffs and the band’s trademark obscure sonic atmosphere.
While firmly rooted in traditional Finnish black metal, the album balances relentless fury with mid-tempo passages, layered keyboard work and vocal diversity ranging from harsh shrieks to deeper screams and occasional clean or choir-like moments — evoking the sinister aura of early Emperor without leaning into symphonic excess.
More than three decades into their career, Azaghal prove once again that they remain a defining force of the underground, delivering a record steeped in authenticity and uncompromising old-school spirit.
