First names Into the Void 2018: John Garcia, Elder, Acid King, Conan and more!

Doom Metal, News, Sludge Metal, Stoner Rock

Dutch stoner, sludge & doom metal festival Into the Void will return to the venue Neushoorn in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands on October 19 and 20, 2018. The first bands have been announced: John Garcia, Elder, Acid King, Conan, Mourning Beloveth and Lucifer adorn the festival billing. Weekend tickets are on sale now via ticketmaster.nl.

The Into the Void festival has become the go-to festival in the north of the Netherlands for stoner, doom, sludge and related genres. The first names for the 2018 edition have been announced and weekend tickets are on sale now.

John Garcia is best known as the vocalist and founding member of the bands Kyuss, Slo Burn, Vista Chino and Unida. Having performed with all these bands, Garcia’s vocals have become the epitome of California’s stoner/desert rock scene. Ever since 2014, the vocalist started his solo project, releasing two albums to date, the self-titled debut and more recently The Coyote Who Spoke in Tongues (2017). Prepare yourself for a performance by one of the legendary voices of the desert rock genre.

The English stoner/doom metal band Conan has taken a prominent place in the stoner metal genre. The music of the band is characterized by a typical sludge sound, yet also by aggression and eery primal screams. Conan has recently started working on a new album that will be the successor of Revengeance (2016), so you can expect to hear a couple of new tunes of the band at Into the Void 2018.

Even though American stoner/doom band Acid King has been around for years, especially the album Middle of Nowhere Center of Everywhere (2015) was picked up by online such as Noisey and Blabbermouth. Since that destined moment, the musicians have been playing at festivals like Psycho Las Vegas, Erosion Fest, Desert Generator, and more as well as sharing the stage with everyone from Sleep and Down to Blue Öyster Cult, Red Fang, and YOB. For as loud as their riffs and roars are, Acid King’s legacy is as unassuming as it is enduring, casting a quiet shadow over the underground for over two decades.

Three more bands have been announced, the American post rock formation Elder, the Irish doom/death band Mourning Beloveth and UK heavy doom rock band LUCIFER. More bands will be added at a later moment.

Weekend tickets for the festival are on sale now. A ticket for both days is 45 EUR (service fee of 2,50 EUR) excluded. The day splits will be announced later and the day tickets will go on sale later. Get your tickets here!
