Abstracted Mind release live video for 'Who You Really Are' • GRIMM Gent

One month after the release of their debut album, Break Down Your Fears, the symphonic / progressive metal band Abstracted Mind celebrate the occasion with a live video for “Who You Really Are”, captured during their showcase at the acclaimed Poppodium Boerderij in Zoetermeer/NL on September 4, 2026.

“Who You Really Are” is a call to stop seeking validation from others, trust your own instincts, and confront the fears that hold you back. That message takes on a whole new energy in the live performance, as the crowd jumps along to the opening and joins the momentum of the song as it builds towards its powerful, anthemic chorus: “Fight, break through your fears / Fight, push through the pain / Your time now has come / Find who you really are.”

The song captures one of the central themes of Break Down Your Fears: the courage to face ourselves, challenge external expectations, and discover our own essence. Rather than offering easy answers, the album explores self-doubt, identity, and the difficult journey towards self-understanding, turning deeply personal struggles into something we can experience and overcome together.

Released one month after their debut album, the video captures Abstracted Mind in their natural habitat: the stage. Filmed during the band’s showcase at the acclaimed Poppodium Boerderij in Zoetermeer, the performance brings together orchestral arrangements, heavy guitars, cinematic atmosphere and powerful vocals. The event drew attention from the music press, with reviewers highlighting the band’s polished performance, Juli Hope’s expressive vocals and the striking contrast of Yamil Ladner’s raw growls.

Following the successful release of their debut album, Break Down Your Fears, which has surpassed 75,000 streams and views across Spotify and YouTube, Abstracted Mind continue to reach new audiences with their blend of symphonic grandeur and modern progressive metal. “Who You Really Are” offers another entry point into the album’s world and embodies its call to connect, witness and awaken, both within ourselves and in the world around us.

The question is no longer who others want you to be. It’s who you really are.
