Adrenaline Mob – We The People

/ / By :

Adrenaline Mob was seen in 2011 when they were formed by Russel Allen (Symphony X), master shredder Mike Orlando and super drummer Mike Portnoy (ex-Dream Theater), as another supergroup with very high expectations. The progressive fans expected something in the line of the proggy counterparts of Symphony X and Dream Theater. They surprised friends and enemies with a fresh sounding groovy heavy metal album Omerta which produced classics like Undaunted , Hit The Wall and Angel Sky to name a few. As Portnoy had too much to do he couldn’t fulfill his duties and was replaced by A.J. Pero (Twisted Sister) . A bass player was found in the form of John Mayor (Disturbed) who left the band in 2014. Meanwhile they released the EP’s Coverta and Dearly Departed and a new one Men Of Honor. The grim reaper decided to take away A.J. Pero from his loved ones. This was quite heavy to bear and Mike and Russel decided to calm down the things to mourn about this loss. In 2017 it was time to fight back with a new one: We The People.

We The People is inspired by the American Presidential Elections from 2016 but without taking any sides. The album opens with King Of The Ring, a groovy bastard that takes you by the balls and finds immediately a way to your head to stay there. It sounds a lot like Undaunted from their debut Omerta which is not bad at all. We The People, the title track, goes further where King Of The Ring left off, groovy with a verse that will be sung along a lot. The Killer’s Inside shows off the super guitar skills of Mike Orlando while we can hear that the new rhythm section, bassist David Zablidowsky and drummer Jordan Cannata, are very talented dudes. The ballad Bleeding Hands gets us another showcase of the vocal capabilities of Russel Allen, one of the best vocalists on this planet.  With Chasing Dragons and Till The Head Explodes the album gets a bit less interesting but with Raise Em Up, Violent State Of Mind and Ignorance & Greed they are back to grab you by the pussy once again. The second ballad Blind Leading The Blind has a melody that will stay in your head and you will sing it along when doing the dishes. The album ends with Rebel Yell, a cover of Billy Idol’s classic tune.

The Mob is back and how, although not as surprising as their debut Omerta, We The People comes close, very close. If you like groovy shit, check it out , are you a lover of typical heavy metal and hard rock stuff check them also out, be not suprised, as they have a very modern sound, while some bands in this genre sounds very outdated. This is what makes Adrenaline Mob so good, they added the modern sounding factor to their babies and not to forget the incredible talents of all band members without getting their egos in the way makes this band a winner.
