We caught up with Aeveris’ Jeffrey and Louis after their Alcatraz Festival show to talk about the story behind the band’s name, the personal themes running through ‘Imminence’, and how the band’s evolving lineup has changed their creative process.
From genuine emotions and mental well-being to pre-show nerves, dream stages and the rather hilarious coincidence of sharing a festival day with Swedish band Imminence, there was plenty to talk about.
Thanks to Hardlife Promotion for setting this up!
Today they probably played a killer show at Summer Breeze, but about a month and a half ago, a decade after our first conversation at Tuska, we met up with Stam1na for a genuine full-circle interview about creativity, longevity, Finnish metal and the passion that still drives them after eleven albums.

Two months after our talk at Alcatraz Festival, we stepped back into the forest with Johannes Eckerström of Avatar to talk about their upcoming album ‘Don’t Go In The Forest’ (out next week October 31st), from disco death grooves and true crime commentary to piano-born love songs and the return of the metal circus among many other things.
We sat down with Orbit Culture’s Niklas to talk about their upcoming album ‘Death Above Life’ (out now with Century Media Records), their journey from support slots to headliners, and why this new era feels like a true rebirth. At Alcatraz 2025, Avatar’s Johannes Eckerström opened up about the band’s next chapter: a new album that was not to be named (it has a name, but he was being a “good boy” in not unveiling the title), their fastest song in 15 years, and why independent festivals (like the one we were at) keep metal’s future alive.
One year after making an impression at La Morgue, Mantah returned to Alcatraz on one of the festival’s bigger stages—and showed exactly why they deserved the promotion. After their set, we sat down with almost the entire band for a relaxed conversation about their love for ’90s metal, giving songs room to evolve, the next album, and why they believe the Belgian metal scene has never felt more united.
Opening a festival day is never easy, but Aeveris turned it into one of the highlights of their Alcatraz 2023 experience. We sat down with Louis and Jeffrey after their set to talk about Belgian metal, the band’s rapid rise and the challenge of following up a successful debut album.
A chat with Johannes from Avatar on the new album ‘Dance Devil Dance’ on why this is the best album of them as of yet, how they did things somewhat different and tried to approach everything in such a way that they thought people could dance to even blast beats and why now was the time for them to self-release the album.
