Hailing from Madrid, Spain, Aversio Humanitatis is a four-piece black metal outfit formed a decade ago by bassist/guitarist S.D., drummer J.H., guitarist/vocalist A.M. and additional guitarist N.H.T. In 2011 they debuted their first full-length album Abandonment Ritual through Egg of Nihilism Productions. Several years after imbibing their identity they took a major leap with their 2017 E.P outing Longing for the Untold. Three years after they signed a worldwide deal with the French underground label Debemur Morti Productions. With the release of the sophomore effort, Aversio Humanitatis encountered a full modernization of their musical prowess. Behold the Silent Dwellers creates a new sonic experience that transformed their songwriting skills to new levels. Within the duration of thirty-six minutes, Aversio Humanitatis wields a monochrome formula that presents solid aggression and obsidian degrees of dissonance. In fact, they seem determined to exhibit a sinister form of black metal by molding its orthodox segments. And this is to say that their newest craft harnesses the exquisite patterns of the rhythm guitars although some modern elements from other bands like Mgla are akin to the musical architecture of the band.

Opening track The Weaver of Tendons exhibits dynamics where the focus becomes concentrated on atonal tremolo pickings and the rapid pace of the percussion. The music sounds truly dark and menacing yet the direct approach of the drums alongside the distilling rhythm creates a brooding atmosphere. Aversio Humanitatis goes even deeper with the contrasting effect of the shrill vocals against the oozing dissonance. The band possesses a masterful ability to create different moods while the guitar drones spew out black obsidian riffs. Behold the Silent Dwellers is a fine album that deploys many powerful and various tunes from the guitars section. Its album cover provokes the dreary visions of the futuristic distorted urban cities. A foreboding musical manifestation that depicts the horror vistas of the apocalypse.

The listener will come across many dark rhythms as the second track The Presence in the Mist morphs into the tenebrous atmosphere. Gloomy undertones whirl with the swirling riffs ejecting blackish fumes. Like waves of spiraling ripples, the drums burst into blast beats and the guitars continue on droning. Yet the element of dissonance and the juxtaposition of the seeping melodies prove the lofty musical refinement. Aversio Humanitatis introduces many variations while the overall theme of the music feels obscured. The darker degrees of guitar riffing show the modern method of this quartet.

The Sculpture of Thoughts veers into the modern stylization of black metal, though the melodies here are centralized. The drums fluctuate from the mid-tempo the music builds on the tonality of tremolos that becomes
mixed with the harmonies. There are a lot of musical twists although each track is achieved through the clear idioms of the guitars. Behold the Silent Dwellers evokes both the modern elements and the traditional qualities of black metal. This also gives the band an artistic flair. The sophomore portrays the revolutionary aspects of black metal, there are some familiar patterns to acts such as Blut Aus Nord, Schammasch, and even Deathspell Omega.

Aversio Humanitatis includes many fascinating tracks that paint the horrible visions of the apocalypse. The Wanderer of Abstract Paths and The Watcher in the Walls present the complexity of the instrumentation. These songs have a brooding sense of bleak darkness simultaneously the music feels extracted from the Icelandic style of black metal. Each of these tracks includes many thrilling such as the maddening ritualistic chants that appear on the chorus.

The guitar work on The Watcher in the Walls involves complexity and technical prowess with a focus on the blackened euphony of the tremolos. Behold the Silent Dwellers culminates in another fascinating track, with the final song The Scribe of Dust constructed upon dark bewitching rhythms of the guitars. The melodies on this track are beautifully crafted with guitars and the drums providing intensity. Behold the Silent Dwellers is a fine album that deploys many powerful and various tunes from the guitars section. A foreboding musical manifestation that depicts atmospheric melodies that reaches a rhythmic unison.

Behold the Silent Dwellers is highly recommended for fans of Mgla, Blut Aus Nord and Deathspell Omega.
