The Hellacopters – Eyes Of Oblivion

Booooom! Here it is.... the first new album from The Hellacopters since they released 'Head Off' in 2008 - which they called a temporary farewell record. If 14 years means temporary to this guys I do not want to know what happens when they talk about 'not temporary'. Was it worth waiting? Oh, hell(a) yeah, it was for sure. What a great comeback. Straight dirty rock, fast and loud.

The Sweden based high energy rock and roll band The Hellacopters are releasing their 8th studio album ‘Eyes Of Oblivion’ on April 1st, 2022. It is the first full-length since …Oh boy…. Do you remember? Their opening song ‘Reap A Hurricane’ is program – this album comes over you like a hurricane. 10 songs full of power and pressure – you’ll hear the fun these guys had when recording this. All in all 10 songs will blast through your ears directly in your brain and you’ll see yourself with sunglasses and a cigarette like the dude on the cover – and I’m a non-smoking guy. If you want to know why they need ‘A Plow And A Doctor’, you have to listen yourself. ‘So Sorry I Could Die’ is a wonderful slow and bluesy rock ballad giving you the only little rest. ‘Tin Foil Soldier’ is a classic 70s reminiscence and would honor any band of this era. The Hellacopters do span a wide variety of different styles here and they are succeeding totally. They cover the full spectrum of all their creativity during their 1990s and 2000s.

The Hellacopters were formed in 1994 by Nicke Andersson (vocals and guitar), Dregen (guitar), Kenny Håkansson (bass) and Robert Eriksson (drums). At that time Andersson was renowned in the metal scene for his work in well-known Swedish death metal band Entombed and Dregen had built a reputation as co-founder and guitarist of his main band Backyard Babies. ext to The Hives and The Backyard Babies, The Hellacopters (do all successful Swedish rock bands name themselves like this ‘The ….’?) are considered one of the most important and influential Swedish rock bands of the 1990s and 2000s – they achieved two Gold certifications, won the Swedish Grammy and a Kerrang! Award and have supported and toured with almost every big name in the business. ‘Eyes Of Oblivion’ just justifies all this even more.

The Hellacopters reunited in 2016 to play a few shows for the 20th anniversary of their debut album, “Supershitty To The Max!”, and have proven an unstoppable force ever since, performing at Sweden Rock Festival, Psycho Las Vegas, Download, Hellfest, Roskilde, Ilosaarirock, among others. With now a brand new record filled with killer rock anthems and guitar licks, look ahead for this summer where they will be headlining some festivals and blast the audience away with these new songs. I truly hope that after this record The Hellacopters will not take another break for several years and remaining a fixture in the modern rock scene. A gorgeous album covering a wide variety of rock songs, styles and a band that has fun to play. Getting this record is a no brainer – you can’t go wrong if you love hard rock. Solid, dirty, sleazy makes your body move – you will not able to sit still while listening. Awesome guitar riffs and solos, a real record with character…

Current line-up:

Robert Erickson – Drums
Dregen – Guitar
Anders Lindström – Keys
Nicke Andersson – Guitar & Vocals
Dolf de Borst – Bass
