Finnish metal regiment Barrel launched their first single ‘Scavenger’

Hailing from Tampere and skilfully forging solid metal, Barrel will release their long-awaited debut album ‘Triptych‘ early 2026. The band purposefully crosses genre boundaries – from raw rock’n’roll through thrash to melancholic soundscapes that cut through deserts and space. In Barrel‘s vision, metal is, above all, a limitless, chaotic creative force that should not be crammed into a single mold.

Now the band offers the first lead-flavored taste of their upcoming album in the form of the song Scavenger:

The band declares:

“The main riff was born practically out of nowhere – from some brain waves of mortal man that had tuned into frequencies emanated from the depths of endless darkness. In the amplifier, everything possible was adjusted to be sinfully close to breakdown voltages. Due to the starting point, Scavenger is a work that roasts at full speed from the start. Driving a deadly engine of chaos, the fast-paced demped guitar playing kicks at a hellish three-digit pace, mercilessly breaking the mumbling necks of both electric guitars and the audience”

“The composition process was not so much about composing, but more about becoming a collective possession, in which the confused and passionate minds of the band members were fused together. Scavenger was assembled into a single entity with the most twisted and malevolent specimens of sound energy flying around him. It unleashes the most brutal themes of tyranny, unleashing them in a toxic way with the ultimate purpose of lustfully banging on the eardrums.”

The band expands its visual world to comics and animation. The album cover art, the band’s promotional image and the comics related to the songs have been designed and designed by cartoonist Juha “Wuorlock” Wuorinen.

Triptych song listing:
1. Cryptomnesia
2. Prelude to the Fall of Man
3. Scavenger
4. Sophia’s Repentance
5. Prelude to War
6. Signs for Kings
7. Dogma Denied
8. War
9. Ode to the Fallen

The band’s previous EPs Bullet With Your Name (2022) and Unanticipated Confessions of Love (2023) garnered positive attention both in Finland and abroad. Triptych opens the next chapter in Barrel‘s career – a comprehensive and ambitious album that presents a skilful and determined band that is moving forward and upwards. The previous drummer Honkku still plays on the Triptych album, and Barrel‘s new drummer Vili has been involved since the summer.

On the gig front, Barrel is preparing to conquer the Finnish peninsula right from the beginning of the year.  The band, known as a tight live roller, has done dozens of gigs during their career, and has performed at Suistoklubi, Nokian Kerhola and Tuhdimmat tahdit pre-club in the late Hönö Bar. During the past autumn, Barrel also performed in Latvia and Estonia.
