Hard Rock Café opens in Antwerp

Hard Rock Café Antwerp will open its doors around the end of March. Last week, they held job interviews for 60 vacant jobs. “The interviews went smoothly,” says the internationally renowned café.

The café will open in the very heart of town, on the Groenplaats next to the Hilton Hotel. 20 years ago there was already a Hard Rock Café at the same location. Back then, it wasn’t corporate owned by the chain, but it was a franchise from an individual. This time, it will be a corporate venue. The café announced it will be a new concept. We don’t know yet what will be different, but we’ll keep you up to date whenever we get more information.

History
The history of the Hard Rock Café started in 1971. Two young Americans, Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton, were looking for a good American Burger while living in London. Apparently they didn’t find one, so they decided to open opened their first Café in London where they served burgers. The first landowner apparently didn’t believe in their project, and first only gave them a lease for 6 months. Now, 46 years later, there are almost 200 Hard Rock Cafés worldwide.

Their first live music performance was in 1973. Paul McCartney & Wings actually played at the London venue as a warm up gig for their tour.  But their love for (live) music stayed, and today you can regularly see a live performance.

The mission from the Hard Rock Café is “To spread the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll by creating authentic experiences that rock”. We’re looking forward to experience it in Antwerp as well.
