Lindsay Schoolcraft releases new single/video ‘Crucified’

Alternative Metal, Modern Metal

Lindsay Schoolcraft returned with her most emotionally charged and sonically powerful single to date, “Crucified.” A raw outpouring of anger, betrayal, and empowerment, the track captures Lindsay at her most vulnerable — and her most fearless.

Lindsay says of the track,

“‘Crucified’ is the heaviest sounding and most lyrically honest track written to date. At the time of Its creation it was the song I didn’t know I needed. As my guitarist Cody, along with our drummer Dylan, worked on the track the lyrics and melodies started pouring out of me suddenly. I was mad. Betrayed. Still. Realising the level of how wronged I was and by people I once loved and trusted. Clearly this was still affecting me and needed to heal even more. Around the same time we were writing this track I found the art piece I wanted to use for our album cover and the undertow of religious themes made sense in connecting this art piece to the lyrics and story. This combination went on to inspire the whole look for the music video.

This song touches on the abuse of power. How those who have power use it to use others. To lie, twist things, get what they want and sometimes and in some sickly way, deep down they find entertainment in it. But eventually there are more victims than the abuser and there’s a ticking deadline coming their way for their malicious reign to end. Justice eventually prevails.

Those who get it, get it. If you’ve been hurt and tangled up in this vile behaviour and were lucky enough to get out of it and survive, this song is for you.”

Visually, the “Crucified” music video brings the song’s intensity to life through potent symbolism and religious undertones. The imagery of the sword and sand timer reflects these themes — the sword embodying truth and reckoning, the sand timer representing the inevitable countdown to justice. Together, they capture the song’s exploration of abuse of power and the idea that those who manipulate and exploit others eventually face the consequences of their actions.

Lindsay Schoolcraft draws inspiration from boundary-pushing artists like Evanescence, The Birthday Massacre, Spiritbox, Björk, VAST, and Purity Ring — creating music for fans who crave both emotional resonance and sonic intensity. Lindsay Schoolcraft appeals to listeners of Lacuna Coil, Motionless in White, Linkin Park, and other genre-bending acts.

A JUNO-nominated artist, lead singer/songwriter Lindsay first gained international recognition as the keyboardist and backing vocalist for symphonic metal legends Cradle of Filth (2013–2020). Her contributions helped shape the band’s Hammer of the Witches (2015) and Cryptoriana (2017) albums, released under Nuclear Blast Records. Stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist, she released her debut album Martyr on October 11, 2019 via her own label Cyber Proxy Records which went on to be Juno Nominated in 2020. Co-written with Grammy Award winner Rocky Gray (formerly of Evanescence), Martyr blended metal with classical elements and ethereal harp, charting globally and laying the foundation for a devoted fanbase.

Lindsay’s career reflects not only creative fearlessness but also sustained recognition: she was awarded Artist of the Year at the Oshawa Music Awards in both 2021 and 2022, and Producer of the Year in 2023. In 2025, she received Producer of the Year at the DREAMS! Awards (Durham Region Excellence in Arts, Music, and Sounds) for the track “Warn Me,” a B-side from Martyr released to celebrate its fifth anniversary. She also previously shared the stage with Evanescence and Lindsey Stirling on the Toronto stop of their Synthesis tour in 2018.

Beyond her solo work, Lindsay collaborates across a wide spectrum of heavy music. She has contributed vocals and harp to tracks by Motionless in White, Cancer Bats, Myrkur, and more — building a reputation as a versatile, sought-after guest artist.

In 2019, her gothic persona caught the eye of JP Ahonen, creator of the comic-metal band Belzebubs, who modeled the character “Skvllcraft” after her. Lindsay voiced the character on Belzebubs’ debut album Pantheon of the Nightside Gods (Century Media Records), appearing in both the music and animated visuals.

A classically trained harpist, pianist, and vocalist, Lindsay studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto), received guidance from established vocal instructors, and briefly attended York University for opera and theory studies. She continues to evolve her craft through ongoing education in music theory, business, and production.
