Besides starting the new year properly looking to the future, this month we’re also still looking back at all the awesomeness that 2023 brought us. One of those awsome things was the already 3rd edition of the by Bloodred Hourglass curated festival Black Box Mikkeli. They were able to bring a killer line-up again on the 2nd day of their event with besides a fantastic show by themselves, Insomnium, Gaerea, Balance Breach, I Am Your God and Lastout!

Tesseract came, saw, and absolutely conquered with a mesmerizing and mindblowing set of music at Tavastia in Helsinki, and with them they brought Unprocessed and The Callous Daoboys for a night of proggy delights!
After a long wait we finally got a regular Sonata Arctica gig again in Finland as they kicked off their “Arctic Storm Finland tour 2023”. At the end of September, they hit the stage in Tampere’s Pakkahuone, together with Reckless Love and Luna Kills. A great night organised by TuskaLive and Grey Beard Concerts and Management.
A night in New Hampshire, the Shinedown “Revolutions Live Tour” struck down at BankNH Pavilion, and brought with them Papa Roach and Spiritbox for an amazing evening of modern metal/rock!
This night was Iron Maiden night! After one of their greatest performances ever last year at Graspop Metal Meeting expectations were real high for the band’s return this year. But they left our reporter with somewhat of disappointed feeling after the show at Sportpaleis in Antwerp with support from The Raven Age.
Imminence came back to Finland to play an absolutely killer show for a completely sold out On The Rocks in Helsinki, with the support of the Norwegian deathpop maniacs of Blood Command!
Back in March, Electric Callboy set down one of the parties of the year at Vanha Ylioppilastalo in Helsinki, and did it 2 nights in a row in front of a completely sold out room. We can hardly wait to see these guys kill it again at Tuska Festival and at their headline position at Alcatraz this festival summer! Support came of course of the band to watch, Future Palace!
Last month, Turmion Kätilöt kicked off 2023 with their biggest production to date at Jäähalli in Helsinki, celebrating both their 2 decades of existence and the release of their 10th album ‘Omen X’ and with the help of Lord of the Lost and Proteus!
Blind Channel played the biggest show of their career at Helsinki’s Jäähalli at the end of 2022, a culmination not only of the year but of the whole band’s existence! Support came from the lovely Arttu Lindeman.
Throwback to Normandie finally making it back to Finland to celebrate their 2021 release ‘Dark & Beautiful Secrets’ and blew the roof off On The Rocks with the support from Balance Breach and Delta Enigma.
At the “Does This Look All Killer No Filler tour” stop at Vorst Nationaal in Brussels, Cassyette provided us with something new to check out while Simple Plan and Sum 41 provided a true trip though memory lane.
