Luna Kill's new single 'Deep Cuts' teeters between modern rock and metalcore
Finnish alternative rock act Luna Kills has been collecting a lot of mentions for their international and promising sound in 2022 with their ‘BULLET‘ video, which was viewed more than 37,000 times, and their single ‘here for the drama‘ which was also played on the radio. Now they continue that streak with the new song ‘deep cuts‘, which brutally cuts with its bittersweet story.
Vocalist Lotta Ruutiainen about the single:
“The lyrics of Deep Cuts deal with the feeling of the end of the world when you realize that someone you love just rips open wounds and brings nothing but pain, but letting go feels just as bad. However, every time you just return to the same place again and again, and even then of your own volition.”
The band, which admits to being avid gamers, once again got inspiration from the world of cinema for this song. But this time, in addition to the catchy rock riffs, metalcore-inspired screams were brought in to counteract the soft pop melodies.
“The song combines pop hooks with heavy riffs, as is traditional for the band. In the beginning, the most central part of the song was the c-section’s Blade Runner-inspired synapses, which created the frame for the song’s gloomy and even suffocating feeling.”
