Mike’s Albums of the Year 2017

/ / By :

Another year gone by again and like almost every year we where treated with a variety of great releases. Not only by the bigger bands and the well known but also by some new fresh groups who really at some points raised the bar for the veterans in the genre.

3. Communic – Where Echoes Gather

After a silence of almost 6 years, they returned with a very strong and powerfull album. What a comeback. with their typicale progressive/thrash sound Communic stayed true to their legacy, but the break really has done them well. The boys are back at full form, and ready to conquer. 2. Genus Ordinis Dei – Great Olden Dynasty

This was a though decision to make. This album could maybe have made it to my number one spot if it had been released a couple of months sooner. Nonetheless, Genus Ordinis Dei really delivered an album that just blew me away. Symphonic death metal that sounds powerful, aggressive but knows to find the time to bring in the melody to really get to you and never to let you go. High class musicians and a vocalist with a grunt that is powerful but still understandable for the listener. A real treat for the ear. Read my review here if you want to hear more about this album.
