Modern darkwave duo Ghostbells reveal haunting new single ‘Phantoms’

Coldwave, Darkwave, EBM, New Wave

Fresh off an extensive Latin America tour as direct support for label-mates Hocico, dark new-wave/EBM duo ghostbells release their new single “Phantoms,” out now via Out Of Line Music, accompanied by a brand new music video. The track follows “Curses” and “The Silence” and is the latest step toward the duo’s debut full-length album.

“Phantoms” is a love song from beyond the grave. Icy 80s new-wave melodies, a 90s EBM pulse, modern production and the danceability of techno and pop carry a story of two people bound by love into the afterlife: one crosses over before the other, and the living eventually reunites with their lover. “Our ghosts will dance tonight,” the chorus promises.

The song grew out of a single image: two ghosts dancing in a huge ballroom, lost in each other as if no one else were there, telling the story of their past and how they got there. “Phantoms is about two people who are bound by love into the afterlife. One person crosses over before the other, and the living eventually reunites with their lover.” — ghostbells

The release comes in the middle of a fast-moving year. Since their debut EP Catacouture, ghostbells have played Infest Festival in the UK and Dark Summer Open Air in Germany, supporting Blutengel and Chrom in front of around 3,000 people, before heading to Latin America with Hocico. Along the way, the duo has remixed artists from inside and outside their scene, including Blutengel (“Schwarzer Engel”), Cemetery Skyline (“Torn Away”) and Blitz Union (“Evolution”).

Up next are dates in Florida, followed by Plage Noire Festival in Wangels and Obsidian Echoes Festival in Essen in November, and an appearance at Amphi Festival in Germany in 2027:

Upcoming Live
13.11.2026 – Tampa, US, New World Tampa
14.11.2026 – Miami, US, Las Rosas
20.11.2026 – Wangels, DE, Plage Noire Festival
21.11.2026 – Wangels, DE, Plage Noire Festival
28.11.2026 – Essen, DE, Obsidian Echoes Festival
24.- 25.07.2027 – Cologne, DE, Amphi Festival

ghostbells are a darkwave/EBM/synth-pop duo known for pairing icy new-wave melodies and 90s EBM pulse with sleek, club-ready production. Since releasing their debut EP Catacouture earlier this year, the band has landed festival and support slots across the UK, Europe, the US and Latin America, while remixing Blutengel, Cemetery Skyline and Blitz Union. A debut full-length album is in the works. With “Phantoms,” ghostbells follow the rawness of “The Silence” with a love story that doesn’t end at the grave.
