Fresh from recent spins on Kerrang! Radio, RTÉ 2XM, Amazing Radio UK/USA, and more across Europe, as well as support from Kerrang! and Rock Sound to name a few – Lyon-based trio Oakman have released their brand-new single “Air Hunger” watch / stream here.

An upbeat masterclass in spiritual survival set to a soaring electronic score, “Air Hunger” sees Oakman collaborate with Aurélien Mariat once again for a beautifully retro and fantastical music video.

“Air Hunger is about the profound desire to escape one’s mental state and try to breathe again. Running away from reality is a solution that ultimately brings you back to the same issue” says Marine Lazillotta. She continues “it’s something I often do, something we all do. It’s how we turn life into a redundant anxiety and then we suffocate and struggle for air. Behind those moody notes and a quite joyful atmosphere, hides, as always, a touch of melancholy in Oakman. I wanted to share with you some of my feelings through our music, just what I felt, with honesty.”

Honing their songwriting skills across three EPs – their 2016 debut “Waterscape”, 2018’s follow-up “Plasticworld” and 2022’s latest release “SCP”, Oakman have made a significant impact on the pop-rock scene from their native France to further afield in Europe, the UK, US and Asia with their releases and ambitious touring.

Supporting the likes of Enter Shikari, Neck Deep, ZZ Top, Basement and Bukowski across venues in France, Oakman‘s distinct alt-pop/rock sound have converted unfamiliar audiences into fans. In the last year, Oakman appeared with labelmates Delaire The Liar and Modern Error as part of the Rude Records: The Getaway Tour in the UK’s London, Manchester and Glasgow and appeared at the first Slam Dunk Festival France in Lyon.

The release of 2022’s SCP EP saw the trio introduce pop-leaning vocals, 80’s style synths and groovy basslines to their pop-punk fundamentals. This, in turn, created a perfectly dark yet upbeat backdrop to communicate their perspective on hard-hitting topics such as ill health, assault, tragedy and more in their lyricism, masterminded by Marine. The EP was regarded as an important step forward for the band with the likes of Billboard, Kerrang!, Rock Sound, Distorted Sound, V13, Boolin Tunes, Blast Out Your Stereo, She Makes Music and more lending their support.

OAKMAN are:
Marine Lazillotta (vocals)
