The Molotovs announce debut album ‘Wasted On Youth’ and share new single

Alternative Rock, Garage Rock, Punk Rock, Rock, Rock 'n' Roll

London-based rock band The Molotovs announce their highly anticipated debut album “Wasted On Youth”, which is set for release on 30 January 2026, through UK independent label Marshall Records.

Coinciding with the announcement and ahead of their US tour in support of Sex Pistols, the band has shared their follow-up single, “Today’s Gonna Be Our Day“, which is available on all streaming platforms and as a limited-edition 7-inch coloured vinyl, available at select independent record shops. This includes the B-side, “No Time To Talk”. Fans can pre-order the album, stream the new single, and find more information — HERE

Produced by Jason Perry (Don Broco, Trash Boat) at The Marshall Studio and mixed/mastered by Blair Crichton of Dead Pony, “Wasted On Youth” is a vibrant explosion of new wave punk, indie and garage-laden rock songs that marks The Molotovs as one of Britain’s most vital bands.

“Wasted On Youth” addresses self-empowerment and determination, as well as the right to have a good time. With a finger on the pulse of a bustling live scene, it is poised to become a modern classic informed by rock history while maintaining contemporary relevance and a rock-and-roll attitude emblazoned on their sleeves.

Scattered with themes of social and political awareness, and conveying a sense of being personally overwhelmed, connected yet internally fragmented, brimming with hope and youthful energy, yet grounded in the reality of everyday challenges and modern life.

The band’s latest single is the perfect distillation of these themes. “Today’s Gonna Be Our Day” sees The Molotovs rejecting cynicism and political fatigue while encouraging empowerment, acting as a rallying cry for young people to take action.

“It’s an anti-complacency song”, shares frontman Mathew Cartlidge. “A call to arms for my generation to keep the faith and reject apathy, recognising that it’s our time and our turn to make it better. If anything, it’s about the power of youth.”

Pre-order here.

Comprising siblings Mathew and Issey Cartlidge, The Molotovs have been grinding on the live circuit, garnering attention from both fans and press alike for their explosive performances. Still in their teens and having played over five hundred gigs, they have already shared stages with the likes of the Sex Pistols and The Libertines and been shouted out by punk legends Green Day, with The Telegraph highlighting them as one of the rising stars who could share the stage with Oasis — HERE

Over the past 12 months, the band has gone from strength to strength. They have enjoyed sell-out shows at legendary London venues Dingwalls and The Scala performed at SXSW in Texas, played a sell-out first UK tour and supported The Sex Pistols in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust at iconic venue, The Royal Albert Hall, The band is now set to join them on tour across the US later this year.
