The Spirit release new single and video 'Room 101' • GRIMM Gent

German blackened death metal act THE SPIRIT release a new single “Room 101” from their upcoming new album “Songs Against Humanity”, to be released on October 25th, 2024, via AOP Records.

Matthias Trautes comments:

“‘Room 101’ was the first song I finished for the new album. Lyrically inspired by the dystopian classic “1984” by George Orwell, this song carries the listener to a bleak future of repression and the death of free will. It’s one of the shortest The Spirit tracks ever, but it’s a real banger.”

THE SPIRIT remain loyal to their policy to release every two years a new album. After their third offering “Of Clarity and Galactic Structures” from 2022 where the band hit a new high in terms of song complexity and depth, the new output “Songs Against Humanity” goes again into another direction. Despite containing the two longest tracks in the bands career, the songs on the new record are way more straight forward and catchy as fuck.

The cover artwork was painted by internationally renowned artist Eliran Kantor. The band worked already for the second time with the Berlin based artist.

Like the last two records the new album has been recorded once again at Woodshed Studio, Germany, engineered by V. Santura and drums being tracked at Iguana Studios by Christoph Brandes. THE SPIRIT’s lyrics consist on one side of misanthropic views on the world and on the other side of cosmic themes that carry the listener deep into the vast of the universe.
