Finnish alt-rock band Wrecking Lizzy releases a Christmas song

Alternative Rock

If you’re in for a budding Christmas mood, this song and video will make it easier

The Helsinki-based alt rock band Wrecking Lizzy, which channels echoes of the music of the 1990s and 2000s in particular, released a Christmas song. The band introduced themselves earlier in the autumn with the single Happy Happy / Sad Sad, and now the longingly beautiful shades of melancholy are served on a slightly different Christmas single: Christmas Lights is a viable alternative to traditional Christmas songs.

“Christmas Lights takes the listener into the atmosphere of the darkest – and for many also the saddest – period of the year. This time, there is no joy in the glorious Christmas lights, but they dazzle too brightly on the face of the narrator wandering in gloom. The bitterly beautiful melody, touching interpretation and wonderful vocal harmonies make this song a potential alternative Christmas classic,” says Wrecking Lizzy.

The filming of the music video for the Christmas single almost got tough, but luckily a friend is known in distress.

“December was already approaching threateningly, and we still hadn’t found a place to shoot the video. Luckily, a friend of ours liked the song so much that he invited us to his house to take pictures. Now that Christmas melancholy is slowly knocking on the door, we hope this song and video could bring at least a little relief to those who are rowing in the depths of the budding Christmas melancholy.”

Wrecking Lizzy is:
Lizzy Wilde – Hundreds
John Curtain – guitar, vocals
Viviane van der Rosa – bass guitar, vocals
