Black-Out Bash releases line-up

Black Metal, Death Metal, News, Progressive, Symphonic Metal, Thrash Metal

Indoor festival Black-Out Bash revealed its line-up, and with the German Heavy Metal band Grave Digger as headliner we certainly can’t complain! “As it will be the fifth edition this year, we decided to kick it up a notch, so we’re happy to have Grave Digger as headliner for the upcoming edition!” says chairman Frederik Vermeiren. The rest of the line-up consists of Dyscordia (Progressive Metal), Angelus Apatrida (Thrash Metal), No Return (Death/Thrash Metal), Carrion (Death Metal) and Cathubodua (Epic Symphonic Metal).

Black-Out Bash takes place the 4th of november in youth centre De Spiraal in the Belgian city Geraardsbergen. The festival likes to bring a mix of big and local bands. “Each year we bring 6 bands to the stage, consisting of some big and famous international bands (Artillery, Angelus Apatrida, Ostrogoth, Evile, Gama Bomb, …), as well as some local talent. As of 2016 we also organize the Black-Out JAM, in which 5 bands compete to win the first spot on the upcoming edition of Black-Out Bash,” says Frederik. Cathubodua won the Black-Out JAM, and got their spot as opening band.

Black-Out Bash is a cooperation between the City of Geraardsbergen (youth and culture), MuurRock VZW, and a group of metalheads that work out the details of the event and take charge. “The City of Geraardsbergen supports our organization by letting us use some of their services. MuurRock VZW helps us by sharing their knowledge which they built up over the years of organizing their own events,” says the organizer. “With all that support, we try to always have a good mix of famous international bands, mixed up with local talent. The reason we do this, is to try and let other metal fans see some of their favorite bands at a low price, as well as give starting bands a chance to play on the same event as some of their idols, or to just give them a bigger audience than they’d normally get and build a bigger fan base in the process.”

The festival hopes to grow bigger in the future and keep the ticket price low. “For starters, we’ll keep trying to improve on every aspect and listen to what the people want and what they liked or disliked,” says Frederik. “We will keep trying to get strong, interesting lineups together each year. The main goal is to keep growing, get bigger names, offer more to our visitors, while keeping the ticket price as low as possible, since that has always been one of the things that we pay much attention to.”

Curious about last year’s edition? They made an aftermovie, which you can watch below.
