Blame Me! return with emotional new single ‘Time By Time’

Alternative Metal, Alternative Rock

Finnish alternative metal act Blame Me! are back with their new single and music video “Time by Time”, out now via Out Of Line Music. The track marks the band’s first new material since their 2024 single Edge of War, arriving with a reinvented sound shaped by two years of change – including the addition of new drummer Maiju Mäki.

Driven by modern alt-metal energy and an infectious melodic core, “Time by Time” showcases the full range of Blame Me!‘s songwriting – hard-hitting riffs, dynamic arrangement, and a bold vocal lead from frontwoman Bini Silvennoinen. Running at 178 BPM, the track balances raw intensity with beautiful melodic hooks, landing comfortably in the space between bands like Within Temptation and As Everything Unfolds.

The song was produced by Jesse Marttila and Dimitris Kavvadas, with recording, mixing, and mastering handled by Rami Nykänen and Dimitris Kavvadas.

Lyrically, “Time by Time” navigates the slow collapse of a relationship, the internal tug-of-war between holding on to what once felt permanent and accepting that some endings are inevitable. Lines like “We are forever and you are the one / If we keep lies in the play / Maybe we’ll keep ourselves safe” capture the denial and quiet desperation at the heart of the song, before the chorus delivers its defining verdict: “Time by time, we will be forgotten.”

“The idea for ‘Time by Time’ came from an experience of a failed relationship. We believe that in everyone’s life there’s that one relationship that you worked hard for and you put your heart in it, but slowly you just can’t stop the inevitable end. Still you try to hold on to the good memories, and forget the bad things. The only thing in the end to do is to let go.” — Blame Me!

The single arrives as the band steps into a new chapter. Following an unplanned two-year hiatus, Blame Me! have spent the past year writing new material with a fresh creative approach, one shaped in part by the arrival of new drummer Maiju Mäki, whose influence helped steer the band toward new rhythmic territory. A new album is in the works, and “Time by Time” is another glimpse into where the band is headed.

“Life happened, with an unplanned hiatus of two years, Blame Me! had to reinvent themselves. The past year, the group has been creating new songs with new sounds and a completely new rhythm which was brought front by the new drummer Maiju. The upcoming album will have a lot of new elements still with the familiar sound.” — Blame Me!

Founded in Helsinki, Finland in 2017, Blame Me! are an alternative metal band built around powerful vocal performances, emotionally driven songwriting, and a sound that bridges the force of heavy metal with the accessibility of modern alt-rock. The band draws from personal experience to create music that is both confrontational and cathartic – a source of comfort for listeners navigating hardship. Their debut album The Invisible You (2021) established their core sound, while subsequent releases including the singles “Fears Don’t Matter,” “Musket Fire,” and “Edge of War” built a dedicated following across Finland and beyond. Their most-streamed track, a cover of t.A.T.u.‘s “All The Things She Said,” has surpassed 1.3 million streams on Spotify. With a new lineup and new album on the horizon, Blame Me! are ready to make their boldest statement yet.

With “Time by Time,” Blame Me! prove that the hiatus only sharpened their focus, and that the best is still to come.

Blame Me! will also return to the stage this September with the following shows:

  • September 4 – Nirvana, Turku (with Crimson Sun and Without Warning)
  • September 5 – Skenesali, Vantaa (with Crimson Sun and Without Warning)
