Epinikion flows with the current in second single ‘Lessons in Life (Are for Free)’

Symphonic Metal

Epinikion stands firmly in its power with the solid lineup this symphonic metal band has had since 2023. The second single from the album ‘The Force of Nature’ is a thunderous orchestral train, driven by fast guitar riffs and racing toward the wisdom that life is best taken as it comes.

“Lessons in Life (Are for Free)” was released on November 20, 2025 – another milestone on the journey toward the full album release in February 2026. A swirling lyric video by Marnix Darwinkel visually reinforces the theme of the power of nature in this uplifting track.

“‘Lessons in Life (Are for Free)’ is entirely about the power of going with the flow – following the course of life and nature, knowing that this is how we learn our personal lessons best. Those lessons are available everywhere and for everyone, as long as we pay attention. The only thing we need to do is recognize them and start working with them when they cross our path” says Renate de Boer, Epinikion’s songwriter.

The album was produced by Jacob Hansen, who created an amazingly clear yet beautifully heavy sound through his signature mixing and mastering. For the artwork, Giannis Nakos crafted near-magical visuals that perfectly capture the essence of the album and its songs.

The release of ‘The Force of Nature’ will be celebrated with a spectacular release show on February 6 at pop venue Sound Dog in Breda – the same place where the first video “The Force of Nature” was recorded. A new era for Epinikion begins with this fantastic package of 12 new songs that will appeal to both metal fans and mainstream listeners.

Epinikion is known for its energetic shows and strong connection with the audience. Kimberley Jongen impresses with her classically trained, bright voice. Maarten Jungschläger is known for his heavier metal projects, yet also excels as a symphonic metal lead guitarist. Rutger Klijn is a seasoned bassist whose distinctive and technical bass lines firmly establish Epinikion on the metal map. Robert Tangerman not only composes together with keyboardist and partner Renate de Boer, but as rhythm guitarist and arranger, he plays a major role in fine-tuning Renate’s creativity. Michal Gis is the young, talented drummer who brings rhythmically unique contributions and delivers them with precision.

EPINIKION IS:
Maarten Jungschläger – Lead Guitar
Rutger Klijn – Bass
Kimberley Jongen – Vocals
Michal Gis – Drums
Renate de Boer – Keys
Robert Tangerman – Rhythm Guitar
