Hanna’s Albums of the Year 2017

/ / By :

2017 has been a great year for me. I got the opportunity to combine my two main passions – music and writing -, I got to publish my writings and meet a few of my favorite artists for interviews. But mostly talking about the newest releases this year has brought, although most of the people I know disagree with me, I think it has been a fantastic year for alternative music.

3. Igorrr – Savage Sinusoid
I’ve been familiar with Igorrr for a couple of years, but you can easily say that Savage Sinusoid is the best record the band has made so far. The record just features so many great songs: Viande, iEUD, Opus Brain, Spaghetti Forever, Cheval, … I saw them perform in Kavka, Antwerp at a new festival called Grindwaarpen, which I also wrote a review about that you can read here. That was one of the best shows I’ve seen this year. There is no way you can catch Igorrr at a live show and not be blown away. The album is the perfect mix of so many different things thrown together in a bizarre, but perfect way. You can’t compare them to any other band, which is why they are so refreshing and interesting to listen to. For a more broad review of the album, click here.

2. Body Count – Bloodlust
Body Count is back and stronger than ever! Bloodlust is one of the most mind-blowing surprises of the year and went beyond everything I expected. It contains so much anger towards society, put into so many great songs. The Ski Mask Way, This is Why We Ride, All Love is Lost. Just to name a few. The album ends with three absolute bangers in a row: No Lives Matter, Bloodlust and Black Hoodie. The record features a few guest artists too, like Dave Mustaine, Max Cavalera and Randy Blythe. I love the political attitude the band has, and Ice-motherfuckin’-T keeps finding the exact best words to describe what’s wrong with society. I couldn’t have said it any better than Vaim in the review he wrote here.

2018 is going to start off ridiculously well with a brand new Corrosion of Conformity album! No Cross No Crown will be released on January 12th and the singles Cast the First Stone and Wolf Named Crow sound very promising! After many years, they will finally be touring Europe again this summer! One of my all time favorite bands, Alice In Chains, are also back on tour this summer. With the new artwork of their tour poster and the rumors that I have heard, it looks like they might be working on a new album too! I also hope to catch Body Count on tour this year, and of course the resurrection of the almighty Carnivore A.D. What are you looking forward to the most? Let us know! Cheers everyone, to a new year filled with new music!
