Away from the larger crowds gathering at the Prison Stage, the Swamp Stage offered its own highlights on the first day of Alcatraz 2025. We got to enjoy four very different acts: the hard rock energy of Room13, the melodic death metal mastery of Hypocrisy, the occult-infused black/thrash metal of Absu, and the unmistakable presence of Abbath Doom Occulta (or black metal icon Abbath only playing Immortal songs). The result was a diverse slice of what makes Alcatraz‘s second stage such an important part of the festival experience.
