UK melodic metal unit Phoenix Lake released debut album ‘Seraphina: The Fall From Eden’

Alternative Metal, Melodic Metal

Following a string of highly successful singles, UK alternative metal outfit PHOENIX LAKE have shared their planetary debut LP, Seraphina: The Fall From Eden, via self-release. The album’s release comes alongside a video for the album’s focus single, “This Abyss”, directed by Jay Sanderson.

A conceptual epic to its core, Seraphina: The Fall From Eden is self-described by the band as “a concept album that chronicles the journey of a fallen angel as she navigates the complexities of human existence.”

The band continues,

“We didn’t originally intend to create a concept album; our only goal was to make music that captured the tangled mess of emotions that reveal the raw beauty of being human,” they say. “But after releasing “Fractured Wings” — our first single following the EP Beyond the Flames — we were inspired to reimagine the lyrics in a more literal sense. From that idea, Seraphina’s story emerged”

“The album follows her descent and transformation. After falling from Eden, she is thrust into an unfamiliar world and begins searching for meaning in the chaos. Over time, she uncovers love, summons inner strength, and ultimately finds redemption.”

Further discussing the album’s focus single, “This Abyss”, and its place within the album’s intricate narrative, they elaborate:

““This Abyss” follows Seraphina in the aftermath of her fall from Eden, stranded on Earth and overwhelmed by its chaos.”

Expanding on its worldbuilding aspects, they continue

“Lost in a concrete maze of traffic, neon lights, noise, and restless crowds, she feels trapped—haunted by a past she longs for and a future she can’t reach. The song centers on the “echoes” of her own thoughts, tormenting her as she struggles with isolation and identity. Beneath the despair, a flicker of defiance drives her to rival the abyss consuming her.”

One of the heaviest tracks across all of Seraphina: The Fall From Eden, “This Abyss” concludes with a ferocious breakdown, as vocalist Lana Phillis pierces through with feral screamed vocals, contrasting her otherwise soaring and epic performance in phenomenal style.

The track, which has racked up over 100,000 streams since its release, with GBHBL describing the track as “dramatic … mighty … [with] a potency that betrays their ‘underground’ status.”
