Toronto’s rising powerhouse VILIVANT premiered her brand-new video for “Drown” via ROCK HARD. Watch the video HERE! The empowering anthem and explosive music video sees VILIVANT defining her signature sound that is reminiscent of fiery female vocalists Taylor Momsen (The Pretty Reckless), Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) and Simone Simons (Epica).

VILIVANT explains,

“The modern Victorian era has always represented obedience to me. I feel setting the scene that way gives the audience an idea of what’s to come. I wanted to write an anthem for those feeling pressured to act/appear a certain way in order to please certain people. I guess you can say this is a song to empower those that need a little push getting out of toxic situations.”

Filmed in a mansion from this historical time period in New Tecumseth, Ontario, the music video follows a young VILIVANT who is controlled and held back by a strict “prim and proper” family in a society that rips apart imperfection. She breaks free of the chains by rebelling during a fancy dinner party. The video was produced by Trenches Media and directed by Alex McFarland alongside camera assistant Matt Guarras and photographer Rob Licandro. It was edited by Ocular Vision Media.

In October, VILIVANT released Drown onto streaming platforms following the release of rock banger Running on Empty. Quickly garnering over 165K streams, the sci-fi-inspired music video premiered via Toronto’s Spill Magazine. Produced by Sam Guiana (Juno Nominated band Silverstein), it is jam-packed full of punk rock hooks, making any rock lover headbang. It was added to CBC Music and saw impressive coverage from Bravewords, Grande Rock, B-sides Blog, Amplify Music Mag, The Tinnitist, Metal Heads Forever, The Indy Review and more!

VILIVANT (Julia Gentile) is a Canadian hard rocker that quickly gained immediate success in the music scene at the very young age of 3, starting with the piano and picking up the guitar and bass along the way. Drawing heavily from influences such as Halestorm, The Pretty Reckless, and Three Days Grace, she created her first self-titled EP. Her first two singles ‘Never Again,‘ and ‘Stabilized‘ saw radio airplay on stations such as 94.9 The Rock (Toronto), Rebel 101.7 FM (Ottawa) 98.3 CIFM (Kamloops) & The Wolf 106.9 FM (Nanaimo). With her continuous success on radio, her two singles reached #89 and #98 on the top 100 Canadian rock radio charts; thus garnering a fanbase across the country and internationally.

Though LIVE shows were at a standstill during the pandemic, VILIVANT continued to play at virtual festivals. During this time she was selected as a Top 5 Regional Finalist for Jim Beam’s National Talent Search and won the Toronto Region with her LIVE off-the-floor performance video of her song ‘Stabilized‘ and was also given the opportunity to open for Canadian award-winning rocker Lee Aaron at the sold-out El Mocambo. After receiving the Juried Sound Recording grant from FACTOR Canada, she is working hard on her full-length album with the help of Sam Guiana.
