Misery Index release ferocious new single ‘Feral Future’

MISERY INDEX, the Baltimore death metal veterans, have released their new single “Feral Future,” accompanied by an official lyric video. It is the band’s first new music in four years, arriving on the heels of their return to Season of Mist and ahead of their headline “An Epitaph for Endtimes” EU and UK summer tour.

“Feral Future” carries the band’s high-intensity combination of death metal and grindcore, built around a driving, headbanging groove from guitarists Mark Kloeppel and Darin Morris alongside Adam Jarvis‘s relentless drumming. Lyrically, the track keeps the band’s social commentary razor-sharp, framing the natural world as something to be reclaimed rather than dominated, and closes on the defiant refrain “this is our future.”

“Feral Future is about changing the way we think about our relationship with nature. Nature isn’t something we rule over or exist outside of. It’s something we are immersed in everywhere all the time. This song champions the rewilding of damaged and corrupted human spaces and reclaims a more feral connection that respects the sublime wonder of nature.”

“Feral Future” was one of the very first songs written for MISERY INDEX‘s upcoming eighth full-length, and its untamed energy helped shape the album’s thematic core.

“Feral Future” was mixed by Ricardo Borges and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios. Artwork is by Samuele Puligheddu, with photography by Ryan Phillips. The lyric video for “Feral Future” was created by Cloud Motion Design.

Since forming in Baltimore in 2001, MISERY INDEX has stood out for their high-intensity combo of death metal, grindcore and cutting social commentary.
