Belgian prog metal outfit Traels shares new single ‘The Weight Of Ease’
Belgian progressive metal band TRAELS have released their second single, “The Weight Of Ease”, taken from their upcoming sophomore album A Study of Absence. The band signed with POLDERRECORDS earlier this year, with the album scheduled for release on November 20, 2026.
The official music video for “The Weight Of Ease” premiered on September 17, while the single followed on September 18 across streaming platforms.
According to the band, “The Weight Of Ease” follows the process of emerging from confusion and gradually discovering who you really are and where your strength comes from. Choosing what feels right over what hurts can create space for a fresh start, although even that sense of ease can come with its own difficulties.
Formed in Belgium in 2023, TRAELS are a four-piece progressive metal band whose sound moves between atmospheric passages, precise musicianship and heavier, more intense sections. Their music constantly plays with the contrast between tension and release, drawing inspiration from both everyday life and bands such as VOLA, Plini, TesseracT, Karnivool, Leprous and The Ocean.
The band describes its approach as an attempt to find a balance between musical complexity and accessibility.
“It’s great to see our music resonates with such a wide audience. We aim for that sweet spot between musically interesting, a challenge to play, but at the same time, also easy listening.”
— Korneel Lauwereins
TRAELS introduced that approach with their 2024 debut album The Abyss Within. The album received attention from Belgian and international press, including a “Prachtplaat!” verdict from Rock Tribune, while its first vinyl pressing sold out. The band’s growing live presence also led to an appearance at ProgPower Europe 2025, where they opened the festival’s final day for an international audience of progressive metal fans.
With A Study of Absence, TRAELS are set to take their sound further. The band describes the upcoming album as heavier and more dynamic, with greater emphasis on vocals, groove and layered arrangements.
A Study of Absence will be released through POLDERRECORDS on November 20, 2026.
