Canadian metalheads Famous Strangers share new single and announce upcoming debut album

Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Heavy Rock, Modern Metal

Emotional, raw, and unpredictable – a combination that makes Famous Strangers not only stand out, but also showcases their unapologetic confidence with everything they do. Sounds that are curated through years of experience, lyrics taken from real situations delivered with heart, and a chemistry between band members that is unmatched: This is what makes the Edmonton based band so special. Ranging from heavy metal and hard rock down to intimate blues featured in their upcoming debut album “Famous Strangers” (release: August 21, 2026), the four Canadians got it all – and they are ready to take the music world by storm and turn heads wherever they go. It’s a fearless introduction built on honesty, self-discovery, and the power of knowing your worth. Drawing heavily from personal experiences, the record captures the highs, the setbacks, and the growth that comes with learning to move forward. The band explains: “At its core, it’s a reminder that no matter what you face, you’ll be okay and come out stronger on the other side.”

Each track lives and breathes in its own space. Some lean into gritty, old-school textures, others unfold slowly with haunting, melodic depth while the rest arrives with an intensity that hits like a truck. There’s no attempt to fit into a mold – only the commitment to raw emotion, authenticity, and storytelling that accompanies the listener throughout the whole journey. As a debut, it’s both an introduction and a statement. The band isn’t just releasing music: They’re creating a space for listeners to feel empowered, to reflect, to find energy and love, or simply to exist as they are. It’s an invitation to take the ride, wherever it leads.

Leading the way into their new album, Famous Strangers unveil “Ghosts of Men”, the first single already arriving on May 29, 2026. It’s a raw and electrifying track that nearly didn’t make it onto the record at all. Originally written instrumentally, years before the band even formed, the song was revived last minute and transformed within a matter of days. With lead singer Amanda’s deeply personal lyrics bringing it to life just in time for the studio, the band created something magical: Fueled by gritty, hard-rock energy, “Ghosts of Men” dives into the vulnerability and emotional spiral of being ghosted. It captures the loneliness, overthinking, and sense of becoming invisible yourself. The accompanying music video takes a bold, imaginative turn, portraying exaggerated scenarios of what might be happening on the other side of silence. With Amanda stepping into the male role, it adds a striking, metaphorical twist. Unapologetic, unconventional, and emotionally charged, the single sets the tone for what’s to come.

Formed in 2023, Famous Strangers are the product of years of shared history within the music scene of Edmonton, Canada. Long before the band took shape, Jeff Kittlitz (Guitar, Backing Vocals) and Brian “Beej” Beejerson (Drums, Backing Vocals) had been writing together, following the dissolution of their previous band project This Is War around 2013. Their collaboration laid the groundwork for what would eventually evolve into something much bigger.

As the years progressed, Braden Sustrik (Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals) joined through mutual connections, and the trio began developing instrumental material together. During the COVID era, their project shifted direction, transforming into a classic rock cover band. While this period refined their chemistry as artists, the defining moment came when Amanda Kiernan (Lead Vocals) joined a rehearsal to jam. Her immediate connection to an original track marked a turning point. At that moment, Famous Strangers found their band identity: What had been an open-ended collaboration suddenly became a fully realized band.

Though officially formed in 2023, the members of Famous Strangers had spent decades crossing paths, sharing stages, and building friendships. This history fuels their chemistry and sound, with each member contributing to a cohesive and dynamic lineup.

Drawing from a wide range of influences, Famous Strangers blend elements reminiscent of Judas Priest, Pink Floyd, Halestorm, Spiritbox, and Metallica, while also reflecting inspiration from Iron Maiden, Nightwish, and beyond. At the same time, their roots remain firmly grounded in the Edmonton scene, drawing influence from local bands and veteran musicians who helped shape their early careers. Today, the band continues to build on that foundation, channeling years of experience, collaboration, and shared passion into a sound that is both unpredictable and distinctly their own.
