Chris Maragoth releases new single ‘Dark Thoughts’
About a month ago, I told you about Chris Maragoth’s single ‘The Entrance (Renascentia)‘, the first single of his upcoming album ‘Bonds of Grief‘. Now it’s time for the second single, called ‘Dark Thoughts’. The title is sounding very grim, but Chris has this way of talking through his music that just seems to make sense. A dark thought can seem beautiful if you look at it from the musical perspective if you let him do the work. Let’s check it out.
The song starts with a sound that almost reminds me of a creepy circus act. The cello joins and it continues to create this eerie feeling. The voice of Cherry Summerfield joins us once again to give this song a voice. On the bass we can hear Robert Tornow. The drums join about halfway and the song keeps building to become heavier, until the vocals become growls and the song has changed so much from the beginning till the point we are at now. Choirs are heard and we get one more verse filled with growls.
It is amazing how this song changes so subtle along the way, yet, if you compare the beginning to the end it would seem like two different songs. The song flows from one end to the other, leaving a dark trail of memories that follow you in your brain long after the song has stopped playing. Truly artistically beautiful.
Chris Maragoth about ‘Dark Thoughts‘:
“Lyrically “Dark Thoughts” explores the contrast between outward appearance and what may remain hidden underneath. While everything can seem fortunate on the surface, painful memories and persistent thoughts tell a different story within. Rather than assigning a specific explanation to these struggles, the lyrics leave their nature open to interpretation”.

Keep your ears open, because Bonds of Grief is going to release on November 27, 2026.
