Cosmic death metal act Ancient Death shared the track ‘Unspoken Oath’

Death Metal

“Unspoken Oath” is the latest single from Massachusetts-based death metal band ANCIENT DEATH. The song precedes their immersive and deadly debut album, Ego Dissolution, nearing release on Profound Lore Records.

Blending progressive and technical death metal with cosmic and lush atmospheres, ANCIENT DEATH creates a unique soundscape of introspection and growth. The band was formed in the summer of 2019 by bassist/vocalist Jasmine Alexander, guitarist Ray Brouwer (Matriphagy), and guitarist/vocalist Jerry Witunsky (Atheist), soon followed by drummer Derek Malone Moniz (Cruciamentum, Churchburn). Through their Sacred Vessel EP in 2022, the single “Glowing Auras” in 2023 (a split with Putridarium), and their Demo 2024 releases, the band has continued to expand and push the envelope of honesty and vulnerability.

Now, ANCIENT DEATH’s debut full-length album Ego Dissolution arrives, showcasing the band at their most fierce and creative thus far, further expanding on the atmospheres and mindfulness of their inner and outer worlds. Ego Dissolution was recorded and mixed by Seth Manchester at Machines With Magnets (The Body, Lightning Bolt, Full Of Hell), mastered by Dan Lowndes at Resonance Sound (Leviathan, Krieg, Cruciamentum), and features cover art by Maegan LeMay (Morbosidad, Cirith Ungol, Iron Hand Tattoo).

In their May issue, Decibel Magazine has published an interview with the band in addition to leading their reviews section off with a featured 9/10 critique of the album, boasting in part, “With their immaculate full-length debut, Ego Dissolution, ANCIENT DEATH take their place at the obsidian table for esteemed death metal… an early contender for extreme metal album of 2025.”

With the new single, Jerry Witunsky reveals, “‘Unspoken Oath’ showcases the band’s more progressive and technical approach while still retaining pure heaviness. Parts of the song were written as far back as 2014. Lyrically the song deals with love and longing, and the isolation one can feel within that.”

Listen to ANCIENT DEATH’s “Unspoken Oath,” now streaming everywhere at THIS LOCATION.

Ego Dissolution will arrive on LP, CD, and digital services on April 18th. Preorders for all formats and merch are live through Profound Lore where “Breaking The Barriers Of Hope” is also streaming HERE.

ANCIENT DEATH is booking live dates in support of the album, and will share the stage with Vastum, Goetia, and Anthropophagous on April 6th. Additional shows, including a mid-Summer tour, will be announced shortly.
