Dutch punk band Antillectual shared their first ever song in their native language
Antillectual presents their first ever song in Dutch! Voorrang Voor Rechts (literal translation “priority to the right”) is a fast, thrashy song dealing with the current worldwide shift to the right that is also taking place in the Netherlands. Find the digital single and music video here:

Voorrang Voor Rechts (priority to the right) came out 10 days before the Dutch elections, with Geert Wilders’ extreme right PVV leading the polls. The Netherlands are being torn apart between extreme right rioters “protecting” their country against refugees, and the biggest protest in the Netherlands ever supporting Palestine. The recent uproar in the Netherlands inspired the track’s music video.
Pretty much everywhere in the world there’s a shift to right-wing politics happening, in the Netherlands no different. This shift culminated when the PVV, the Dutch extreme right party of Geert Wilders, won the elections in 2023 and formed a populist government. However, long before that right-wing tendencies already were growing popular in politics, media and culture. The Dutch maximum speed limit had been raised to 130 km/h, the abandonment of Zwarte Piet (a blackface tradition) met with widespread resistance and climate change deniers’ movement had gained momentum. “Politically correct” once referred to the popularity of progressive ideas, these days a lean to the extreme right has become the standard. Democratic regimes sucking up to Trump, mainstream media banning progressive culture to please him. The radical right has become the mainstream.
