I Am Your God cover In Flames classic ‘Alias’
Finnish melodeath five-piece I Am Your God release their cover of In Flames‘ “Alias” via Out Of Line Music. The track is the third single from Foregods, an upcoming EP of five cover songs honoring the forefathers of extreme metal, and follows the band’s previous reimaginings of Children of Bodom‘s “Are You Dead Yet?” and Iron Maiden‘s “The Evil That Men Do.”
Originally released as a single from In Flames‘ 2008 album A Sense of Purpose, “Alias” is a track steeped in the kind of melodic intensity that has made In Flames one of the most formative bands in extreme metal. I Am Your God translate it into their own voice while staying true to the energy of the original, continuing the Foregods approach of honoring source material at full current intensity.
The Foregods EP will span five tracks from five defining bands – Children of Bodom, Iron Maiden, In Flames, Sentenced, and Dissection – with each member of the band contributing one choice to the tracklist. The result is a release that maps the musical DNA of I Am Your God as much as it pays tribute to the bands that shaped an entire genre.
The single arrives as the band continue an active festival run. I Am Your God are set to appear at Rockholm Festival (NO) in July as well as Brutal Assault (CZ) and Summer Breeze Open Air (DE) in August, adding to a history of appearances at Tuska, Summer Breeze, and Dark River.

Founded in Rovaniemi, Finland in 2018, I Am Your God blend melodic death metal with modern metalcore energy and a distinctly Nordic edge. The quintet – Julius Vetämäjärvi (vocals), Matti Hietala (guitar), Joonas Erkkonen (guitar), Joonas Roivainen (bass), and Atte Autio (drums) – released their debut album The Resurrection via Out Of Line Music in 2020, followed by SINister in 2023 and Δ (Trinity) in 2025. Drawing comparisons to Children of Bodom, In Flames, and Soilwork, the band are one of Finland’s most promising rising forces in extreme metal.
