7 festivals that make Belgium a great summer destination in 2025

Our little homecountry of Belgium has surprisingly much to offer in the realm of European summer festivals. There is a really strong and bright live event culture to be found here and some of its festivals attracts some of the biggest stars and people from all over the world who come for some of the best fests of the continent, or even the world we'd dare to say. Here are some of the events we are really looking forward to and why you maybe should consider taking a trip to Belgium for:

Wildfest

(23/05 - 24/05 @ JC De Spiraal, Geraardsbergen)

Wildfest has been Belgium’s finest hard rock festival for quite some years now, and they have put together some amazing line-ups for fans of glam, sleaze, hard and melodic rock. So much so, that it’s been marked in people’s calendar as a yearly thing and it’s an event that has become quite well-known within the hard rock community all over the world. Sadly, all good things come to an end at some point, and this will be the very last edition of this great event, having marketed as “End of the Road”. So if you still want to get a taste of how much this kicks ass, now is your last shot!

And how could you not? With a line-up bringing together All I Know, Kickin Valentina, Blackrain, Wildheart, The Treatment, Mr. Myst, Bulletrain, South of Salem, Wildness, Shiraz Lane, Art Nation, The Cruel Intentions and Crazy Lixx under one roof for 2 days is simply impressive and a no-brainer for anyone who is into this branch of the heavy music world. And with the lowly price of €65 for the whole weekend, what is your excuse still really?

Tickets are sadly completely sold out right now, but if you got a ticket, see you there!

dunk!Festival

(29/05-31/05 @ De Vooruit, Gent)

dunk!Festival has been a permanent fixture in the Belgian festival scene, and while it used to be at a very magical location in the middle of a forest, it switched to the legendary Vooruit (or VIERNULVIER) venue in the center of Gent, spread over 3 of its rooms (concert hall, theater hall and wintercircus). One thing that hasn’t changed, is how they manage to put together a line-up every edition that is pretty magical. Much like renown festivals like Roadburn, Desertfest and the likes, they bring together the best the world has to offer in the sludge, psychedelic, post-metal and related realms. This year you’ll find Mogwai, Hemelbestormer, Cult of Luna, Slow Crush, PIJN, Year Of No Light, A Swarm of the Sun, de mannen broeders, Five The Hierophant and so much more, and it’s promising to be a big year again, celebrating 20 years of this event!

Graspop Metal Meeting

(19/06 - 22/06 @ Dessel)

As Belgium’s biggest, and one of Europe’s biggest, metal and rock festivals, we couldn’t leave Graspop Metal Meeting from this list. Every year there are thousands of people trekking towards Dessel for 4 days of absolute heavy music adoration featured on 5 different stages, including a double main stage that will feature headlines like Iron Maiden, Powerwolf, Slipknot, Behemoth, Nine Inch Nails, Korn, Judas Priest and Till Lindemann! And that’s only 8 of a total of 146 bands on the line-up of an extremely wide variety of music genres. While some might not be to the liking of every metalhead or rocker, there really is something for everyone, and with that many bands, you’ll never get bored!

If there are still tickets, get them here.

Litha Fest

(05/07 @ Gentbrugge)

We might be a bit biased since this is our own event, organised together with Asgaard Gentbrugge, but after last year’s successful first edition of Litha Fest, we’d love you to join us at our pagan-centered event! Not only do we offer some of the best bands and musicians linked to the realm of paganism, there are workshops, vendors and so on that you won’t want to miss. This year we managed to snag up the legendary folk/pagan metal band Arkona to headline our little event, joined by Prima Nocta, Vanaheim, Sanseveria, Serpents Oath, Blod Dyr and Dudsekop!

Rock Werchter

(03/07 - 06/07 @ Werchter)

This has been the biggest festival of the country for decades now, every time bringing a massive line-up. To the regular metalhead or rocker, there might be a lot to complain about, since the name is somewhat misleading as Rock Werchter, since there are a lot of pop, electronic, hip hop and other similar music styles to be found. However, for those under us who have a widely diverse music taste, this is an absolute feast as the best of all genres will be found here. But if we focus for a moment on what the fest has to offer for those who like the harder side of things and their guitars as distorted as possible, you’ll still get some very tasty things to look forward to like Linkin Park, Deftones, Green Day, Amyl and the Sniffers, While She Sleeps, Iggy Pop, Grade 2, Coheed And Cambria, Lambrini Girls, Boston Manor, and Amenra. And even the illustrious Heilung is setting up shop to share their ritual with all who are open to it!

Lokerse Feesten

(01/08 - 10/08 @ Lokeren)

Lokerse Feesten is a massive 10-day-long festival that features a different collection of music genres every day of the event, something for everyone at some time during the long stretch of concerts. Those that might really appeal to people who frequent our site, would be Sunday August 3rd with Bizkit Park, Brutus, Electric Callboy, Enter Shikari, Pendulum Live and Psychonaut (with more to be announced still), Monday August 4th with a bit of a punk day featuring Sex Pistols ft. Frank Carter, and The Damned (probably with more to be added still), and Tuesday August 5th with Amenra, Gojira, Helmet, Melvins, Coilguns, Envy and Redd Kross!

Keep an eye out for further announcements and get your tickets here!

Alcatraz Festival

(07/08 - 10/08 @ Kortrijk)

Easily one of our favorite festivals of the season, Alcatraz Festival has become a little slice of home that is loud, wild, hot and sweaty every time. With a line-up of over 100 bands spread over 3 days, plus 1 additional warm-up night, there really is something for everyone and at this festival there is no skimping on heavy music, you won’t find any pop rock/punk or so here. Heavy metal, extreme metal, hardcore, metalcore, punk,… everything your heart might desire that features distorted guitars. With this year headliners Kreator, Extreme and Machine Head, joined by a massive amount of names that will blow you away including for instance the return of Nailbomb and SNOT, anniversary appearances by Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, Rotting Christ and Abbath, and so so much more! This year they’ve also expanded the warm-up night with some proper thrash bands like Overkill, Evil Invaders, Exhorder and Warbringer, and the usual cover bands like Frogleap and Liliac! This is a big festival that at the same time feels cosy and familiar and is organized so damn well, whenever you go once, you’ll go back every year!

There are probably some more fests that we overlooked, there is definitely plenty to do during the festival summer in Belgium!
We hope to see you at one of these events!
