The 29th Brutal Assault is fast approaching, and it is serving a huge plate of bands, arts and activities for any taste. While bands like Paradise Lost, Gojira, Mayhem or Rotting Christ are extremely well-known and carry all the titles and fame of the past and present, visitors of the festival will surely be discovering some names that will surprise and make the Brutal experience even more special. Here are a few names that haven't made it to the headliners but are definitely worth checking out and discovering or remembering:

Graphic Nature

(Marshall main stage - 10:30-11:00)

A shot of nu-metalcore with the needle stuck on overload, UK’s Graphic Nature channels early Slipknot chaos through a modern breakdown lens. Distorted vocals, jagged rhythms and electronic fury create a set that feels like a riot on fast-forward. New to the scene, but already making noise for all the right reasons. For fans of Code Orange, Loathe, and raw tension.

Within Destruction

(Sea Shepherd main stage - 12:25-13:00)

Once known for their slamming deathcore chaos, Slovenia’s Within Destruction have shapeshifted into a genre-breaking juggernaut. Mixing brutal riffs with trap beats, cyber aesthetics, and tongue-in-cheek bravado, their live shows are pure, chaotic energy. Whether you’re moshing or just jaw-dropped, you won’t walk away unmoved. Brutal Assault is the perfect battleground for their unholy fusion of extremes. Love it or hate it—just don’t miss it.

Mnemic

(Marshall main stage - 14:35-15:15)

Mnemic, a post-industrial metal band from Denmark. It’s an old one, but still going strong since around 2000. They don’t hide they’re influenced by old heavyweights like Fear Factory or Messhugah, so you will definitely hear some of that old-school sound somewhere in the distance, but their music has many layers and it’s definitely interesting and worth trying out. Moreover, they have recently renewed their existence after long years of silence, so let’s see how that goes this time in Brutal Assault.

Sylvaine

(Obscure stage - 15:35-16:15)

Norwegian solo artist Sylvaine channels delicate beauty and black metal bleakness into a post-metal dreamstate. Her voice soars, her screams cut deep, and her live sets feel intimate even in festival environments. It’s rare to see something so emotionally vulnerable delivered with this much power. Prepare to be entranced.

Gaerea

(Obscure stage - 20:30-21:20)

Portugal’s masked masters of atmospheric black metal have been climbing fast, and for good reason. Gaerea‘s sound is both suffocating and grand, filled with tension and emotional fire. Their shows are immersive rituals, not just gigs. If you want black metal that feels both modern and sincere—this is the one to see.

The Browning

(Obscure stage - 23:25-00:10)

Bringing EDM drops into deathcore breakdowns, The Browning is metal for the cyberpunk apocalypse. Their sets are unpredictable, loud, and genre-mashing in a way that still splits crowds—and that’s exactly the point. If you like chaos and don’t mind your riffs wrapped in neon, give them a shot.

Hellripper

(Obscure stage - 01:50-02:35)

Scotland’s Hellripper channels the unholy spirit of early blackened thrash—fast, filthy, and absolutely feral. Think Motörhead and Venom raised on blast beats and satanic speed. It’s a one-man project on record, but live, it transforms into a whirlwind of denim, leather, and blistering riffs. If you’re into no-frills, all-killer metal madness, this is your altar call. Hellripper doesn’t just play fast—they summon chaos.

Mantar

(Obscure stage - 16:40-17:20)

No bass, no filler—just two guys from Germany ripping through sludge, punk and black metal with primal urgency. Mantar’s live energy is feral, loud, and gloriously noisy. Expect a wall of fuzz and raw attitude that hits harder than bands twice their size. The perfect antidote to overproduced anything.

Brutal Assault is diverse and different every day, every hour, so the only REAL suggestion we can give you is walking around and try to breathe as much music and sound as you can. It’s all about the experience after all, and it’s impossible to not find anything new and/or interesting. See you soon at BA!
