Slovenian post-metalcore outfit Hei’An dropped their new single and announce album release festival

Metalcore, Modern Metal

Frontman Matic Blagonič comments on the single:

“‘What Do You Have to Save?’ is the album’s final track, exploring existential questions about the worsening state of our world and whether there’s anything left that’s worth fighting for, without offering a definitive answer. I’ve always loved songs with dark lyrics and an upbeat instrumentation for the thought-provoking contrast they can create. In that vein, ‘What Do You Have to Save?’ blends pop punk, melodic rock, and metalcore elements to convey complex emotions in a powerful way, making it one of the catchiest and most memorable tracks on the album.”

The accompanying music video was created by photographer Matic Kutin. It showcases a collection of heartfelt moments of friendship captured during the album’s recording sessions.

To celebrate the release of their upcoming album, Hei’An recently announced they’ll give special concerts two nights in a row in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on October 24th and 25th, at a festival they’re organizing in partnership with Dirty Skunks and Earsplitter Booking. Bands Pavlov, Arklight, Martina Et Al., and From Ashes, are also slated to perform at the event.

Hei’An is a five-piece post-metalcore band from Slovenia whose unique sound blends elements from various metal, rock, pop, and electronic music styles. Their deeply emotional and impactful songs are packed with intimate moments and massive segments.

They released their debut album, imago, via SAOL in November 2022. To follow up on the album’s success, the band flew to the world-famous EastWest Studios in Los Angeles to record live versions of four songs from imago with a string quartet from the LA Philharmonic. The resulting EP, Live at EastWest Studios, came out in October 2023.

Since their first-ever, sold-out release show at the cult Slovenian venue Kino Šiška in early 2023, Hei’An has performed across Europe and at some of the prominent metal festivals and music industry events worldwide, such as 70000 Tons of Metal, MetalDays, ProgPower EU, Eurosonic, and MENT Ljubljana.

Hei’An’s upcoming sophomore full-length album, Kiss Our Ghosts Goodbye, was produced by the band and Randy Slaugh (Architects, The Amity Affliction), mixed by Joseph McQueen (From Ashes to New, Bad Wolves) and Zakk Cervini (Bring Me the Horizon, Architects) and mastered by Ted Jensen.

LINE-UP:
Matic Blagonič – clean vocals
Aljaž Novak – harsh vocals
Matevž Počič – guitar
Peter Smrdel – bass
Gaj Bostič – drums
