The Modern Age Slavery unleashed new single ‘No One Jokes at God’

Deathcore

Italian Deathcore titans, The Modern Age Slavery, have released “No One Jokes at God,” the first single from forthcoming EP, 1969 | No One Jokes at God. The EP is the second of a release trilogy (more on that below).

The song is available all major streaming platforms. The official video for the track is available at: https://youtu.be/h9x0khecQyE

“No One Jokes at God” explores the struggles of the millennial generation, dealing with faith, fate, and the search for hope in dark times. It’s about finding strength in vulnerability, acknowledging the pain of the past, and recognising that no one is immune to hardship – and that it is in these moments of despair that we turn to something greater, and no one dares to joke about the existence of God.

The story begins 2022 when The Modern Age Slavery embarked on an new exciting adventure, a trilogy of pieces of art in the death-metal scenario. The band idea is to portray human self-imposed slavery along three different eras in men’s history. Indeed, 2023 album, 1901 | The First Mother released via Fireflash Records / Atomic Fire – represented the very first chapter of the trilogy. The album concept was inspired by writers and philosophers belonging to the so-called “modern age,” 1901 being the year in which Queen Victoria passed away.

That brings us to the second chapter of the trilogy, 1969 | No One Jokes at God, recalling the symbolic beginning of the hipster culture at Woodstock and the rapid switch of equality ideals to the actual worldwide decay that has inevitably followed.

The EP was produced by The Modern Age Slavery with engineering duties undertaken by the band’s guitar player, Luca Cocconi, along with Simone Sighinolfi (who took care also of mixing and mastering at Audiocore Studio, near Parma, Italy) and will be accompanied by two videos, the aforermentioned title track, “No One Jokes at God” being the first.

The second single/video, “The War Within,” will be released on April 10.

The 1969 | No One Jokes at God EP is targeted for a Fall 2026 release.

Emerging amidst a sea of deathcore, Italy’s THE MODERN AGE SLAVERY separated themselves from therest with their visceral sense of the genre. Coming equipped with grinding blast beats, merciless brutal vocals and slaughtering rapid-fire double bass patterns their sound developed and became increasingly unique over time. After the release of their demo, which was chosen as “Demo of the Month” by Rock Hard Germany, they got signed to Napalm Records.

Then, thanks to significant acclaim from the metal world, THE MODERN AGE SLAVERY extensively toured across Europe both as headliners and as supporting act, along with CANNIBAL CORPSE, DYING FETUS, OBSCURA, MALEVOLENT CREATION, VOMITORY. The band also played selected shows with FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, SEPULTURA, DECAPITATED, SUICIDE SILENCE and many more.

The release of the second album –Requiem For Us All– pushed their death metal war machine one step forward, this time with a fierce mix of blazingly fast drumming, technical riffing, epic atmospheres, and crushing groove. Listed as the best metal album of the year by MetalSucks, it brought the band on tour again with bands, such as GORGOROTH, VITAL REMAINS, HYPOCRISY, plus many gigs on national soil. Their last full-length album –Stygian– represented a new chapter in the sound of the band, introducing blackmetal riffing, keyboards, atmospheres, and orchestral elements.

Owing to such efforts, the band got once again acclaimed around Europe, co-headlining shows with INGESTED and supporting VADER and ENTOMBED A.D. Before the pandemic, they shared stages with JINJER, DECAPITATED, INCITE, and they are currently hitting the road again, having played in big festivals with SLIPKNOT, SABATON, BEHEMOTH, and many more.

Line-up:
Giovanni Berselli – Vocals
Luca Cocconi – Rhythm Guitar
Ludovico Cioffi – Lead Guitar
Mirco Bennati – Bass
Federico Leone – Drums
