Kiberspassk unleashes a first song upon the world with ‘Derevna’

In the long nights of the Siberian taiga, a band joined forces to catch up on the coldness and darkness of their home in hard Electro. Their environment inspired the band to combine their Industrial with Russian folklore creating a unique sound. 

Kiberspassk states about the making of the video single ‘Derevna’:

“’Derevna’ is a song about dying Siberian villages. Over the past 20 years, before our eyes, many villages around the place where we live are gradually turning into ghost settlements.  People leave them and they gradually die and collapse under the influence of time. The video was filmed directly in two such villages, which are located near our town. These are the villages of Kiberspassk and Arkhipovka. That is, there are no special decorations in the video itself – all these are real dying villages of Siberia.” 

The core point of the special music of Kiberspassk is singer Baba Yaga, a madwoman of highest power with a voice range from raspy curses over angelic melodies to Mongolian throat-singing. It is her performance giving the industrial its special nocturnal atmosphere. “I sing about the dark side of Slavic mythology and scary tales“, she describes her inspiration. “The characters are known from birth on to every Russian child – Kikimora, Domovoy (brownie), Baba Yaga, Liho, etc. In this land and disappearing old settlements, the spirit and real mysticism of Siberia are preserved. And that’s what we write songs about.“ 

So it is no coincidence that the music has an element of loneliness: „The Kiberspassk project is named after a small dying village, “Kiberspoassk”, located 15 kilometers from our house. And the video to our first single ‘Derevna’ was filmed in this village.“ Kiberspassk play a completely new, atmospheric, and exciting style in Industrial and bring some fresh, bitterly cold wind into a genre, where true innovation has become a rarity a long time ago. The first single ‘Derevna‘ is taken from the upcoming album, which will be released worldwide by Out Of Line Music, and will be first released on the sampler “Electrostorm” Vol. 9 on Friday, November 13th.
