Mammon’s Throne release second new track of upcoming album ‘My Body to the Worms’

Death Metal, Doom Metal, Sludge Metal

Australian death doom outfit Mammon’s Throne recently announced the release of their third full length My Body to the Worms on 13th March, 2026 via Hammerheart Records. The band unveil the second new track and video for ‘Departed‘, an homage to the 90s gothic western showcasing the band’s love and inspiration for acts such as (early) Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Wayfarer and Fields of Nephilim.

Mammon’s Throne comment on the track and video:

“Halfway through writing the album, Amesh brought 3 bar chords into the studio and the beginning of ‘Departed’ was born.

“Without any planning, the song progressed into a doomy, gothic, western ballad. An atmosphere the band had always wanted to explore, given our love of Fields of the Nephilim, Nick Cave, Wayfarer and the Watain song “They Rode on”. It began to build intensity which culminates in a black metal crescendo, which is a great representation of what Mammon’s Throne is all about – genre splicing.

“The lyrics focus on selfishness and self-pity through the eyes of a character who cuts people out of their life while convincing themselves it’s the right thing to do. Matthew has always wanted to translate his love of early Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds into a Mammon’s Throne song and that along with other dark country influences heavily influenced ‘Departed”s opening vocal section.

“We wanted dramatic – and Amesh‘s guitar solo completely smashes the assignment and sets up the chaotic ending to this song.

“The music video for this one essentially wrote itself. We wanted to capture the gothic western vibe and have it mirror the intensity of the song. Johnny took up the director role and took heavy inspiration from 90s music videos when piecing this together.“

After relentless gigging and the success of their 2020 debut album Forward Unto Flame, Mammon’s Throne have established themselves as a force to be reckoned within the Australian live music scene. They followed this up with an epic offering of extreme doom on their self-titled release in 2023. This album saw the band fully embrace the death-doom and black metal aspects of their sound and was met with great admiration by listeners and reviewers.

On the back of the strength of their live performances and respect within the local music community, the band have supported multiple international touring acts such as My Dying Bride, Pallbearer, Conan, Triumph of Death and Rotting Christ to name a few and have done a run of shows in Japan in 2024.

Mammon’s Throne have signed with Hammerheart Records to release their third album My Body to the Worms, which is due on the 13th of March 2026 and represents their most ambitious work to date. The band effortlessly weaves elements of death metal, black metal, doom metal and more to create an engrossing and narrative atmosphere with poignant and memorable lyrics, intricate guitar work and diverse vocal styles that are sure to keep listeners coming back time and time again.
