At Alcatraz 2025, Avatar’s Johannes Eckerström opened up about the band’s next chapter: a new album that was not to be named (it has a name, but he was being a “good boy” in not unveiling the title), their fastest song in 15 years, and why independent festivals (like the one we were at) keep metal’s future alive.

While being at Helsinki Techfest for their very first show outside Estonia, we met up with the metal band Pridian to talk about an excellent 2024 with some bucketlist shows, but also the major news that they are signed to the Century Media Records roster for their upcoming album!

We sat down with Jessie and Eleni of Ankor after their show at this year’s Tuska Festival, the last stop of a crazy weekend that took them to 3 different countries in 3 days, and had a short chat about their busy summer, the way they like to release new music and how 2024 really seems to be a big year for the band.

Back in September at Kuudes Linja in Helsinki, from dark alt-rock intensity to high-energy metalcore, Luna Kills and Balance Breach showed why they’re among Finland’s most promising rising acts.

Electric Callboy turned Jäähalli into a full-on party during their “Tanzneid Europe Tour”. With explosive support sets from Bury Tomorrow and Wargasm (UK), Helsinki was all in from start to finish.

Tuska 2025 day two hit hard on the main stage. Slaughter To Prevail, Orbit Culture, and headliners Powerwolf shaped a powerful Saturday at the festival.

Rockfest Friday wasn’t just about the main stage. From Dead By April and Awake Again to Jinjer and Cemetery Skyline, the Red and Black Stage delivered intensity, precision, and atmosphere in equal measure.

Luna Kills went on tour through Europe presenting their brand-new album ‘Deathmatch’. We attended their show at Club Hell in Diest, Belgium with support of the Dutch alt-metal act Pacemaker!

Motionless In White came back to Finland back in February for their 2nd show ever in the country and brought out quite some people, filling up Helsinki’s Ice Halls nicely. And with Fit For A King to warm us up, it was an epic night! Next up: MiW’s show at Tuska Festival this summer, we’re hoping to see an epic show with some more of their usual theatrics live!

Luna Kills blew the roof off On The Rocks in the beginning of April with their release show, celebrating their new album ‘DEATHMATCH’ in style, and with support Lastout to warm up the crowd, it was a great night of promising bands! In just a couple of days, Luna Kills is kickstarting their first ever European headlining tour, don’t miss out!
