First 20 bands of Brutal Assault 2025 announced with Gojira, Dimmu Borgir, Ministry and a dose of old school death metal

Alternative Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, Extreme metal, Industrial Metal, Metalcore

The 28th edition of Brutal Assault has announced 20 bands! The festival will return to the historic Fortress Josefov from August 6 to 9, 2025, and will feature some of the biggest names in the metal scene. The first announced headliners are GOJIRA, DIMMU BORGIR, and MINISTRY.

French metal giants GOJIRA have become one of the most respected names in the modern metal scene. With their powerful, environmentally-themed lyrics and technical precision, they have earned huge critical acclaim and a worldwide fanbase, highlighted by their historic performance at the Olympic Games. The legendary Norwegian black metal band DIMMU BORGIR is known for their symphonic approach to the genre, blending ferocity with epic, orchestral arrangements. Finally, industrial metal pioneers MINISTRY will bring their unmistakable sound and politically charged energy.

As always, Brutal Assault will showcase a diverse spectrum of metal genres. Fans can look forward to performances by bands like AUGUST BURNS RED, ANGELMAKER, BENIGHTED, or BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, who combine progressive metal with technical skill and genre experimentation. Also on the lineup are THE KOVENANT, a Norwegian band at the crossroads of industrial and black metal; DOPE, veterans of American nu-metal; Obituary; PIG DESTROYER; industrial legends STATIC-X; SUFFOCATION; UNLEASHED, and newcomers THROWN.

Another addition to the lineup is a dose of old-school death metal. Swedish death metal pioneers GRAVE, performing in their original lineup and focusing on classics from their first three albums, will be a major highlight of the festival. Also coming to Josefov are Dutch death-doom titans ASPHYX, Spanish death metal veterans AVULSED (making their first appearance at Brutal Assault), Canadian giants KATAKLYSM, who will play their famous album In the Arms of Devastation, and technical death metal masters from Tasmania, PSYCROPTIC.
