Friday’s headliner and more names announced for Tuska 2018!

Death Metal, Folk Metal, Hardcore, News, Progressive, Thrash Metal

Tuska Open Air has been around for 20 years now as one of the biggest metal festivals in Finland. We’ve been lucky enough to be able to attend to this great event a few times now (for our report of this year’s edition go here) and you can always be sure of a strong line-up in which there’s a ratio of 50-50 foreign and domestic names, both big and small. They’ve already announced a bunch of cool names for the 2018 edition like Arch Enemy, Ihsahn and Europe but now they announced Friday’s headliner besides some more names:

BODY COUNT IT IS! Spearheaded by the infamous Ice T himself, the LA street unit Body Count have been confirmed as the headliners for Tuska Friday. The band’s latest release is the highly acclaimed ”Bloodlust” album (for our review go here). Their show at Tuska will be Body Count’s first-ever show in Finland. Another group making their Finnish debut are Dead Cross, a hardcore act featuring the likes of Mike Patton (Faith No More, Fantômas) and Dave Lombardo (ex-Slayer, Fantômas, Suicidal Tendencies), no less. Dead Cross released their self titled debut last year. Math metal pioneers Meshuggah will be gracing the Tuska stage as well, it’s been awhile since the last time that happened. The Swedes have the audience looking like they know in which time signature the song is in. After all these year, very few have them figured out. Other new additions to the line up are Norway’s prog-wonder Leprous (for a review of their latest album go here), Canadian modern metallers Oni, German cannoning-duo Mantar and Finnish folk-squad Crimfall.

The already confirmed artists are spread over the 3 days as following:

Friday 29/6 Saturday 30/6 Sunday 1/7
Body Count ft. Ice T Kreator Parkway Drive
Dead Cross Emperor Europe
Arch Enemy At The Gates Clutch
Meshuggah Beast in Black Ihsahn
