Back in 2017, rock and metal lovers in Finland (and surroundings) were caught by surprise with the very first edition of Rockfest that offered an impressive line-up, and ever since the event has been growing and known as the place to be if you want a serving of some of the biggest and most popular acts in the metal and rock realms. They had to skip a year in 2024 to regroup and come back with an impressive line-up and new concept, and here we are! Very similar concept, but new location, great line-up and clearly a lot of excitement building up towards the event.

Name : Rockfest
Country : Finland
Amount of Days : 3
Outdoors / Indoors : Outdoors & Indoors
Amount of Stages : 3
Genres : Hardcore, Alternative Metal, Thrash Metal, Gothic Metal, Groove Metal, Heavy Metal, Industrial Metal, Metalcore, Deathcore, Modern Metal, Power Metal, Alternative Rock, Hard Rock, Punk Rock, Punk, Hardcore Punk

The Bands

Every edition, Rockfest brings some of the biggest stars to the Finnish shores and their stages and this year is no different.

With for the mainstage the Thursday headliner being Judas Priest, Friday bolstering the demented show of Till Lindemann, and on Saturday the glorious return of Muse to Finland for what will be an absolutely epic show. But that is not all, joining the already impressive mainstage bill are the Welsh rock legends Manic Street Preachers and metalcore icons Bullet For My Valentine, English rockers The Cult, possibly the last show ever of Sepultura in Finland, Swedish hard rockers H.E.A.T and Nestor, Finnish power metal machine Battle Beast and Michael Monroe led cult rock band Demolition 23!

Rockfest is not called the biggest rock festival in Finland for nothing, you’ll find 2 more stages with bands to fill your time while you wait for the next act on the mainstage. And again you’ll find a healthy combination of both Finnish acts with Crownshift, Stam1na, Awake Again, Toivo-Olavi, Sara, Mokoma, Kovaa Rasvaa, Moon Shot and Kilpi, and international acts with Millencolin, D-A-D, Jinjer, Black Flag, Ugly Kid Joe, Dead By April, Die Krupps, GHØSTKID, Cemetery Skyline, Health, Immortal Disfigurement, RØRY and Nestor. We want to bet there are at least some bands that will appeal to you!

The Timing

The festival will take place during the second weekend of June (12th-14th) and every day starts in the afternoon with:

  • on Thursday doors opening at 15:30 and first band starting at 16:30
  • on Friday doors opening at 14:30 and first band starting at 15:30
  • on Saturday doors opening at 14:30 and first band starting at 15:45

And every day, the gates will close about an hour after the last act ends, so plenty of time to party to good music and have heaps of fun with your friends and fellow rock fans!

The Grounds

Rockfest 2025 takes place at the Gatorade Center in Turku, Finland. There will be 3 stages with the mainstage, the “Red Stage by Pirkka” and the smaller “Black Stage” that will be inside the Gatorade Center. The simplified view of the setup you can seen down below. We’re sure that a more detailed overview of where to find what on the festival area will be released closer to the event.

From our experiences with Knotfest Finland in the same area some years ago, there will be a lot of concrete, so if the weather is hot and sunny, be prepared to bake a bit. There should be plenty of room to walk around in despite the most likely high amount of visitors, and tons of different kinds of food, drinks and other activities to take part in. We’re really looking forward to experience ourselves how this new location will work for the event.

This is the way

Rockfest 2025 is at The Gatorade Center in Turku. Turku is quite easy to reach from capital city Helsinki by a train travel of a couple of hours, as it is one of Finland’s major cities. And the venue is located about 5 km from the city center.

For those coming from outside of Finland, there are options to get to Turku by airplane and cruise ships besides the conventional traveling from Helsinki by public transport. There are special train ticket prices and schedules between Helsinki-Turku and Tampere-Turku just for this event so you can arrive in time for the first bands and get back home after the last one ends. So while it’s probably easier to stick around in the area, you can still get back to your region!

There should be plenty of shuttle busses to travel between the festival area and Turku center at regular intervals throughout each day. They also partnered up with the local taxi services to provide as many vehicles as possible.

You could go by car, but keep in mind that the local traffic might get really busy and if you don’t want to risk getting stuck missing your favorite band or only getting back home hours later than you could have, maybe choose for a public transport option. Be aware that the car parking costs and you need to buy a ticket in advance (23€/day or 48€ for a weekend ticket).

And for the more active people under us, it’s only about 5 km away from the station, a good walk to get the blood flowing and ready for an epic weekend!

The Stay

Rockfest has a camping right at the festival grounds for everyone’s convenience or if you want a bit more comfort, there is even glamping available or accommodation at a local school. There is also a dedicated Caravan area for caravans, campers and cars to spend the night. Tickets for access for any accommodations the festival has to offer are available at the same link where you can get the festival tickets.

If that is not really your way to enjoy a festival (anymore), you can always try to look at the local hotels or hotels near Turku. Most places might be sold out or increasing their prices due to high demand, but if you need more luxury and comfort to survive 3 days, it’ll be worth something to you, right?

Grub and Booze

In the past there was a nice selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at a price that will seem high to anyone coming from outside of Finland, but are not too much more than your usual bar prices.

There also used to be a wide arrange of food trucks with something to please and satisfy everyone, going from international dishes, quality fast food and even plenty of vegan options, we expect much the same this time around!
