We set the hard task for our photographers to choose the best 30 pictures that they have shot in 2023 out of possibly thousands of captures, and here is the result of Tom Treuten’s selection with Butcher Babies, Fateful Finality, Fear Factory, Thundermother, Hypocrisy, Spiritbox, Behemoth, Dog Eat Dog, The Cult, Skillet, Agnostic Front, Scorpions, May The Silence Fail, Cannibal Corpse, Ataraxy, Dark Funeral, Goldmann, Solstafir, Ingested, Antiheld, Lansdowne, Völkerball (Rammstein Tribute), Fettes Brot, Danko Jones, Royal Republic, Team Tot, and Mindead!
After a long break, Gluecifer, who are one of Norway’s finest rock exports, played 3 gigs on their ‘Kings of Rock Tour 2023’ in Germany. We were lucky enough to be able to catch one of these shows for you at LKA Longhorn in Stuttgart! Power-rock trio The Demtones gave a solid support as opening act.
The year wrapping up means that we’ll be looking back at the amazing things we’ve experienced, and “album of the year” lists. We’d also like to give some attention to our talented concert photographers who go out and cover shows for us. So here is a first in a series of articles where our artists pick their favorite pictures of 2023 with Anna/ScarletMemory Photography who mostly roams around in Tampere, Finland and pictures from bands like Pain, Sólstafir, Eleine, Myrath, Battle Beast, Brymir, Sabaton, Mors Subita, Lordi, Metalite, Shereign, Diablo, Before The Dawn, Wolfheart, Sonata Arctica, Deathstars, Brother Firetribe, Psychework, Apocalyptica, Voidfallen, Poets of the Fall, Amorphis, Lost Society, and Everwave!
Nonpoint, one of our photographers’ favorite bands to see live, made a stop at The Eclectic Room in Angola, Indiana on their “The Milliion Watts Tour 2023” and with the help of (hed)pe, Sumo Cyco and VRSTY turned the night in an absolute barn burner!
Extreme was on tour throughout Europe to present us their brand-new album “Six” and brought The Last Internationale with them as a support act. We caught their high energy shows at their stop at Trix in Antwerp, Belgium!
On the 10th anniversary edition of the Belgian hard rock and metal festival Blast From The Past, they did what they do best yet again: bringing the old school to a stage near you with an impressive line-up of Angel Witch, Onslaught, Exumer, Vengeance, Witchfynde, Hitten, Existance, Steelover, and Toledo Steel!
Danko Jones got us shakin’ to the pure rock ‘n’ roll show he brings every time he takes over the Tavastia stage in Helsinki. Warm-up was served by local rock heroes Dirt.
We also took some pictures of Brother Firetribe coming to town on their “Band On A Mission” Finland tour, where they rocked the G Livelab venue in Tampere, brought there by Master Events!
Today, they’re starting their extensive “Shake Your City” European tour at a sold out Tavastia in Helsinki, but earlier this year, to celebrate the release of their new album ‘Electric Sounds’, the Canadian rockers of Danko Jones dropped by in Helsinki. For a private rock party where only a select amount of fans and music professionals had a great time seeing them in a small club stage setting!
Earlier this month, we were attending the last European show of The Winery Dogs “202III world tour”, and this show at the 013 Poppodium in Tilburg, Netherlands, was recorded and filmed for the upcoming live album! Support came from guitar virtuoso Dave Cureton!
